Ataque de Pánico! (Panic Attack!) 2009
Fede Alavarez directed and animated this amazing video of an alien invasion of Montevideo, with "Independence Day" style and quality of visual effects. The results were so impressive, that Sony - along with Sam Raimi (Director of the Spiderman & Evil Dead series') - snapped him up for a cool million, before the video he posted on YouTube even made it to one million hits (it hasn't as of this writing).
That's how smoking hot and amazing this was for a guy with pretty scarce resources.
