Schwarzenegger To Not Defend Prop. 8 in Federal Court.

Interesting, but perhaps not entirely entirely surprising: Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has decided that he will not take a stance on the issue of gay rights, by not defending Proposition 8. Instead, he's letting the courts and the activists decide. One side wishes he would act definitively in the name of stopping discrimination, but on the other hand, his job is to do what the majority wants - even if it's only 52%. Do not whip the Governor in public to do the job he swore an oath do execute. That's what you have to understand about Democracy folks, as Jefferson wrote: A democracy is nothing more than mob rule, where fifty-one percent of the people may take away the rights of the other forty-nine.

Such is the sacrifice for this model of social living. If you don't like it, vote for change, or run for office yourself.

Patrick Henry once opined, “The Constitution is not an instrument for the government to restrain the people; it is an instrument for the people to restrain the government — lest it come to dominate our lives and interests.”
