One of the first of the new wave of Animé adaptations.

Animé classic Blood: The Last Vampire finally has a trailer, albeit in Japanese.

The Samuel Goldwyn Co. is releasing stateside...don't know when...if ever. Americans tend to perceive animation as almost exclusively a children's medium. In the East, it is embraced by adults as a way to tell stories every bit as complex as their live-action counterparts, and we could offer many cases in which they exceed the quality of many live-action ones. For Easterners, it's simply another story-telling medium, not limiting themselves to that which is photographed.

A number of films are being adapted from the mangas, their TV spin-offs, and/or feature versions. Even the grand-daddy of mega-sized animé, Akira, is currently held by - of all people - Leonardo DiCaprio (say what?). How in the hell it could be made in live-action for anything less than $250M (and remain faithful to the manga or original animated feature) is beyond us...maybe he can find the funding?

Hopefully, the films receive the attention they deserve, provided they are as interesting as their animated/print counterparts.

Enjoy the magical and gory trailer.
