Ryan Allen, of George Mason University, in Virginia - named Homecoming Queen!
Wow, you go, girl!
Ryan Allen entered the homecoming queen contest as a joke, under his drag name Reann Ballslee.
The homecoming queen is judged by 50% of the student body, and 50% by a talent competition, in which Reann lip-synced to Britney Spears in zebra striped pants!
Although Ryan was astonished himself, the student body was not bristled by a gay man in drag winning the sash for 2009. His win prompted a photo in the university paper - with only 2 comments - both of which were positive.
Seeing as how half the student body has a say, we think it's pretty progressive and impressive for such an occurrence - especially in highly conservative Virginia!
