Hey, Californians! Want your EQUAL CIVIL RIGHTS?

Hey, Californians! Want your EQUAL CIVIL RIGHTS?

Then the mayor of San Francisco, Mr. Gavin Newsom, is the man who wants to lead us to that era of equality for all.

If you recall, he was the mayor who told the courts to begin issuing same-sex marriage certificates, before the Supreme Court of CA told him to stop - but not before other mayors had followed his LEADERSHIP.

This man now stands on the precipice to become the Governor of California.

We do not advocate voting for a singular issue, but sometimes, that is the important and right thing to do. Strides in all areas of the law cannot all be made at once, by one person. However, sometimes one person can make one issue move all the way forward.

It's time to stop believing in myths and fairy tales, it's time to truly separate church from state. Help to elect a man who understands that point, and will be able to move the political machine towards true equality for all people.

Here is his press release:

Dear Friends,

Mayor Newsom knows he is not going to change California unless he can enlist tens of thousands of Californians who share his policy vision.

That’s why he is already doing something considered “radical” in California politics – he's actually going out and talking to voters. The Mayor knows you can’t mobilize voters by just sitting behind a desk and making fundraising calls to pay for a few weeks of television ads. As important as it is to raise funds to run a statewide effort, it is going to take a lot of hard work to organize a campaign that can change California.

That’s why he hopes you will join him on the road and be a part of this campaign from the very beginning. We have just announced our next eight Conversations about California’s Future around the state. Our first four events have already attracted significant crowds, press and online buzz. Please join us and spread the word about our upcoming events:

February 10 in San Jose, February 12 in Stockton, February 17 in Santa Cruz, February 26 in Tahoe / Truckee, March 10 in Oakland, March 12 in Napa, March 17 in LA and March 18 in San Diego.

You can RSVP on Facebook to any of these events and use the social networking tools on Facebook to invite your friends. You can also RSVP at GavinNewsom.com.

The Online Primary Our online organizing efforts are attracting press attention, with newspapers pointing out that Mayor Newsom has attracted 25 times more support on sites like Facebook than his nearest potential competitors in a race for Governor. Help us keep up this kind of momentum by becoming a supporter on Facebook – and spreading the word by inviting your friends.  The Mayor is blogging today on DailyKos about our Facebook “30,000 in 30 Days” drive.

We Knew Him When We are inviting all of our old friends (and new friends too) to a $100 “We Knew Him When” Fundraiser on March 3 in San Francisco. Come share a few tales with friends, and help us keep the Newsom for California Committee growing.

The Pictures Tell the Story The Los Angeles Times and the San Francisco Chronicle have been covering the potential candidates for Governor. Both the Times and the Chronicle stories are worth a read. The pictures in the Chronicle do a pretty good job of telling the story. Take a look. See You on the Road We’ll keep you posted about new events and activities. As always, you can stay in touch on Facebook, on Twitter, by subscribing to the Mayor’s podcasts and on YouTube.

We hope to see you out on the road in the months ahead.

Eric Jaye Campaign Director, Newsom for California
