Largest credit card theft in history. Have you been affected?
If you own a Mastercard or Visa, you should double-check your bill as hackers monitored FOR WEEKS, St. Louis based Heartland Payments, which processes over 100 MILLION credit card transactions for months. Granted, you are not responsible for this kind of theft because of the credit card companies' policies, but you can expect your interest rate to go up to cover this mess. Furthermore, even if you do square it out with the credit card company that you were the victim of ID theft, you are going to need to contact the 3 credit score monitoring companies to straighten that out too -- and that takes months. If you don't bother to check, it can really screw you when buying a car, house, or other large expense.
