Understand “Democratic Socialism” - it’s not a dirty phrase!

Firstly, stop clinging to the fantasy that you, yes you, are going to become some kind of famous, multi-millionaire. This is the masturbatory fantasy that keeps people voting against their economic self-interest. Most people will live ordinary lives - and there's nothing wrong with that! It is still possible in this country to earn a living doing what you enjoy, and as Mark Twain had once said, if you can do that, you'll never work a day in your life.

For those of you who want to start firing off at the mouth before we get a chance to say anything, do you understand you already now live in a socialist country? What do you think public education is? How about Medicare & Medicaid? Or, Social Security? Police? Firemen? Who do you think pays for that? This is the only industrialized country in the WORLD, that does NOT provide free health care for all. What needs to be done is to convert it to a Democratic Socialist country so that WE THE PEOPLE, not we the corporations and/or amazingly wealthy, dictate legislation and get away with robbing the American public.

Now, the mud-slinging term of the last few days has been "socialism" and the "redistribution" of wealth. How Obama is going to "steal" YOUR money and give it to someone else. This is not the case. 95% of the American public will NOT be taxed one penny. In fact, they will get tax relief! This is simply because 1% of America owns more than 50% of the wealth in this country, in fact, the WORLD. THEY are the ones whom will be taxed. They are the ones who own the media and create CONFUSION and FEAR about how it's really your money that's going to be taken away - it's not. Let's be honest, if you make tens of billions of dollars a year, you're gonna' miss a couple hundred million (if you are a greedy bastard)! However, if you understand that the money will go to pro-public programs like education, health care for all, police, fire brigades, infrastructure repair (roads, bridges, communication, etc.) - it doesn't sound so bad if they are a humane person who can believe in the common good instead of their selfish selves. Frankly, for the other 95%, it also doesn't sound so bad - the 1% STILL get to stay filthy fucking rich, but we 95% all benefit. How is that a bad idea? It's not as if the upper 1% don't use roads, bridges, airports, firemen, police, etc. For us, taking a sizable chunk of income equivalent to those multi-billionaires and corporations (the other 4%), would reduce us to poverty, but this is not what will happen.

To better explain it, here is Martin Short, a Canadian citizen, explaining how his Democratic (quasi) Socialist country functions.
