It was inevitable…first “Will & Grace”…now “Karen & Jack!”
We all watched "Will & Grace" for the groundbreaking show that it was - a gay character (even though it was played by a hetero actor) in a leading role who wasn't suffering from HIV/AIDS, pitied himself, was doomed to die, or any other such old Hollywood devices. Sure, it was still full of platitudes and wearisome clichés, but we watched anyway, only to skip over Will & Grace to get to Karen & Jack.
We had thought a spin-off was in the works, b/c they were so popular. But, after the "Friends" spin-off "Joey" failed, Hayes' hopes for the show were put on hold...it seemed to derail after Mullaly got her own talk show - but then that flopped...
So now, the duo are looking to pair up again for what else? Fame. Money. And for the Network: Ratings and a sure-fire cash cow.
Expect to see "Karen & Jack" (or will it be "Jack & Karen?") on the air by next year if negotiations can be put into play.
We'll be tuning in, of course, booze & pills in hand, DVR season pass set to go.
